Despite my seemingly endless supply of boots and comfortable sneakers, I am deeply susceptible to a good pair of slippers once the weather turns cold. The Ugg Cozy Slipper has been in my rotation since fall 2024, and it's outlasted plenty of other pairs I’ve tested. I wear it around the house, on walks with my energetic Jack Russel Terrier, and anytime I want to throw something cozy on without ruining my outfit.
The sheepskin lining that Ugg is known for makes this slipper especially warm. After two years of near-constant wear, the lining is still plush and cozy, and it’s held its shape extremely well considering I’ve walked approximately more than 20,000 steps in it. Even the sheepskin collar has remained intact. I’m a big fan of the knit outer, which resembles a cable knit sweater and makes the slipper feel right at home with my cold-weather wardrobe. I’ve worn mine with everything from jeans and a henley to matching sweat sets, and I love that it looks more like a “real” shoe than a house slipper.
Pros
- Super stylish
- Warm and cozy
- Good for outdoors
Cons
- Would be more supportive with a closed heel

Packed underneath all the fluff is way more support than I expected from such a plush-looking slipper. The contoured footbed and firm midsole, made with 17 mm of sheepskin, cushion my feet without that sinking-in feeling I get from some ultra-soft slippers. Board-certified foot and ankle surgeon Bobby Pourizaee, DPM, previously recommended it to me for lounging.
The outsole is sturdy. It’s made with dense EVA (ethylene-vinyl acetate) foam and has deep tread patterns for plenty of traction. I regularly wear mine for long walks with my dog around the neighborhood. I’ve even worn it in cold, damp weather and never felt unsteady on my feet. With other slippers, I sometimes worry about slipping or rolling an ankle, but this pair is sturdy enough to wear outside.

Since I don’t wear this slipper as a dedicated house shoe, it’s seen its fair share of dirt and grime. Thankfully, it’s an easy shoe to clean—which I didn’t initially expect due to the fluffy collar and knit material up top. I’ve thrown mine in the washing machine (on a gentle cycle in a mesh garment bag!) at least three times now, followed by air-drying, and they’ve come out looking brand new every time.
The only trade-off I can think of? The open-back design. A closed heel would provide a bit more stability. However, the open-back design lets me kick these on in approximately two seconds when I’m running out the door—or kick them off just as quickly when I get home. I haven’t run into any issues with stability, but I also wouldn’t reach for this slipper for extremely long days on my feet (like a day at the amusement park or a commute to the city). But for grocery runs and walks around the neighborhood, it’s been solid.
After two years of wearing it, I can confidently recommend the Ugg Cozy Slipper to anyone who wants a house shoe that easily crosses over into outdoor wear. The lining has stayed cozy, the outsole still has plenty of grip, and I haven’t run into any need to retire mine just yet. If your ideal slipper is one that’s warm enough for winter and super stylish, this is a very good pair to have by the door.
