A man was shot dead at Sajnokanda in Rajbari’s Sadar upazila on Friday evening.
The deceased was identified as Piarul Sardar, 32, son of Harun Sardar of Boro Muraripur village in Ramkantapur union of the upazila, police said.
Mir Monir Hossain, superintendent of police in Rajbari, said Piarul was standing about 200 metres from his house around 6:45pm when two men arrived on a motorcycle and fired two shots at him. They fled immediately after the shooting.
Hearing the gunshots, locals rushed to the spot, rescued Piarul and took him to Rajbari Sadar Hospital. He was later referred to Faridpur Medical College Hospital but died on the way, the SP told this correspondent.
His family members later took his body back to Rajbari Sadar Hospital. It is now at the hospital morgue.
“District police are collecting CCTV footage to identify the perpetrators. Several police teams are working on the case,” SP Monir said.
He also said Piarul was accused in 13 to 14 cases, including cases involving drugs, arms and murder.
