Former Big Brother Mzansi reality TV star BU Mthembu, who portrayed the character of Vuyani in Adulting, recently opened up about his income on the All the Smoke podcast.
Mthembu, who was previously linked to DBN Gogo, sparked a debate on social media with his latest video.
A video shared by Entertainment SA on Instagram on Saturday, 24 October 2026, reveals why the entertainer left the Podcast and Chill Network.
"BU reveals that he decided to leave the 'All The Smoke' podcast. He says the platform was built on toxicity and reveals that he got paid R12 000 while working there. After receiving some backlash for his comments, he came back to say that he was being misunderstood and that the reason he left is that he didn’t have time for the podcast anymore and had to focus on other things," said the channel.

"Wack move, Grootman @bu_universe 🚶🏽 broer just left a golden show. A proper duo with Tshego @tshego_worldwide."

"Why does he speak like that? 12k is actually a lot of money considering what you need to do. It's also a new show, so the pay is subject to the numbers🤷🏾♂️🤷🏾♂️. 12k for dudes who aren't even popping rn? Man, sign me up!"

"BU made more from the podcast, but he was not thinking clearly because acting pays by the gig, and podcast is a month-to-month + adding promotion on the platform he got more than 12k per month."

"12k to just talk nonsense and it's "little" 😂😂 yaz guys sikhaphe abanye abantu emhlabeni."

"12K for 4 episodes, 2 hrs max? That’s R1500 an hr to talk about other people while smoking and drinking?!😭."
