Former Mukurweini Member of Parliament Kabando wa Kabando has publicly addressed Rigathi Gachagua on social media, marking the former deputy president's expected return to Kenya following a nearly two-month tour of the United States.

Kabando posted his message on Monday, October 19, 2026, as Gachagua was anticipated to land at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport after an extended engagement with Kenyan diaspora communities across several American cities.

In his post, Kabando, who is vying for the Nyeri Senate seat in 2027, framed Gachagua's absence as a period of political turbulence at home, referencing President William Ruto, Linda Mwananchi leader Senator Edwin Sifuna, and the Gen Z movement in pointed terms.

He urged Gachagua's return to galvanise opposition ranks.
"Karibu sana nyumbani, kiongozi H.E. Rigathi Gachagua, EGH. While you were away, Ruto lost his mind. While you were in the USA, Kenya missed your injections against Ruto. While you spoke to Kenyans in diaspora, Sifuna made Ruto crazy. While you were away enjoying yourself, our GEN Zs firmed their vow to out-Ruto," Kabando wrote.
"As you land JKIA, may your truthfulness inspire opposition ranks for insurmountable unity," he added.
Gachagua was impeached as deputy president in October 2024 and has since positioned himself as a vocal critic of the Ruto administration, regularly engaging with opposition figures.

Which places did Gachagua visit in the US?
Meanwhile, according to a schedule published by the Democratic Party's Skiza Wakenya platform, Gachagua departed Kenya on the evening of Wednesday, August 26, 2026, travelling alongside Pastor Dorcas Rigathi.
His itinerary covered six cities over approximately 50 days, taking him through Spokane in Washington, Portland in Oregon, Kansas, Dallas in Texas, and finally Boston in Massachusetts, where he concluded his diaspora engagements.
The trip involved a series of political and diaspora meetings, with Gachagua addressing Kenyans living in the United States throughout the tour.
