Strong winds have halted the upper section of the cable car to Sněžka, the highest mountain in the Czech Republic, the Czech News Agency reported.
According to measurements taken at the summit, wind gusts exceeded 117 kph on Saturday. The cable car can operate only when wind speeds remain below 60 kph. The summit is also covered in ice, with temperatures at minus 3 degrees Celsius.
The lower section of the cable car, running from Pec pod Sněžkou to Růžová hora, remains in operation. The situation may change, and the latest updates are available on the cable car’s website.
