By Breaking Belize News Staff (HP): It’s done. Belize is off the EU’s grey list.
The European Union’s Economic and Financial Affairs Council announced on Friday, October 9, that Belize has been removed from Annex II, the “grey list” of non cooperative tax jurisdictions.
That means Belize is now completely out of EU tax governance monitoring.
The decision follows a positive rating from the OECD Global Forum on Transparency and Exchange of Information for Tax Purposes on Belize’s system for exchanging tax information on request.
Belize was taken off the EU’s main blacklist, Annex I, in February 2024 after major legal and procedural reforms. But it stayed on the grey list while waiting for the Global Forum’s supplementary review.
Now that review is complete, and the verdict is clear. The EU says Belize has met all its international tax transparency commitments.
No more routine monitoring. No more grey list.
