The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Nyesom Wike, has denied endorsing the Labour Party governorship candidate in Adamawa State, Senator Ishaku Abbo, describing a social media report claiming his support for the candidate as fake.
Wike, through his Senior Special Assistant on Public Communications and Social Media, Lere Olayinka, in a statement on Friday, said he had no relationship with the Labour Party or any of its candidates in Adamawa State.
The denial followed the circulation of a social media post attributed to the minister, which urged Adamawa residents to make informed decisions at the ballot and purportedly described Abbo as the most suitable candidate to lead the state.
However, the FCT minister dismissed the report, insisting that he had neither endorsed Abbo nor declared support for any Labour Party candidate in the state.
He urged residents of Adamawa to disregard the report, saying he would personally announce his political position whenever he decided to support a candidate.
Wike said, “Whoever I am supporting, I will use my own mouth to say it.”
