A woman has been taken into custody for killing her mother in Seoul's Gangseo District.
Gangseo Police Station said it made an emergency arrest of a woman in her 40s, identified only as A, on murder charges at around 8:40 a.m. on the 22nd. She is accused of killing her mother, who was in her 60s, in the Ujangsan-dong area of Gangseo District. Police responded after receiving a report from A at around 8:15 a.m.
Police confirmed during questioning that A and the victim were mother and daughter, and plan to change the charge to murder of a lineal ascendant, a separate and more serious offense under South Korean criminal law. Police are questioning A about her motive and the circumstances of the killing.
