Real Madrid secured an important 4-1 victory over Sevilla at the Santiago Bernabeu in an encouraging performance from Jose Mourinho’s side.
After the match, Eder Militao shared an emotional message with Real Madrid supporters following his long-awaited return to action.
The Brazilian came on as a second-half substitute and described the reception he received from the home crowd as unforgettable.
He took to Instagram following the victory, expressing his gratitude to the fans, his family and his team-mates after a lengthy spell on the sidelines.
Militao thanks Madrid fans for their support
Militao’s appearance against Sevilla marked a significant milestone in his recovery, following 181 days away from competitive action.
“Thank you all so much for such a special night,” Militao wrote on Instagram.
“Returning after so much time and receiving this affection from our fans has been unforgettable.”
He also acknowledged those who supported him throughout his recovery.
“Thanks to God, to my family, to my wife, and to the entire team for this great victory,” he wrote.
Militao reserved his final words for the Madrid faithful.
“And, above all, thank you, Madridistas, for always being there. You are incredible!”
A major boost for Mourinho’s defence
Militao’s return could not have come at a better time for Jose Mourinho, with the all-important El Clasico approaching next weekend.
The Brazilian brings valuable experience, physical strength and defensive aggression to a back line that has faced questions over its make-up.
His availability also increases competition for places alongside Antonio Rudiger, Ibrahima Konate and Dean Huijsen.

When fit and at his best, Militao is arguably Mourinho’s strongest option among the four senior centre-backs currently available to him.
However, Madrid must be careful not to rush Militao back into a demanding schedule after such a lengthy absence.
Militao’s injury record is something nobody would wish on their worst enemy, and the important thing is that he is back playing football.
He has endured a difficult few years on the sidelines, and it remains to be seen how Mourinho eases him back into action in the coming weeks.
