Believe it or not, Week 7 marks the halfway point for the 2026 college football season.
This means the clock is ticking for teams to turn around their seasons, trying to find wins on the schedule to be bowl-bound.
Which PAC-12 and Mountain West programs need to find a path to bowl eligibility?
Air Force
Current Record: 4-1 (2-1)
Remaining Schedule: UNLV, @ Wyoming, UConn, @ Army, SJSU, UTEP, @ New Mexico
Even with the season-ending injury to their starting quarterback, Liam Szarka, the Falcons still have a favorable path to bowl season.
Games against UTEP and UConn, both at home, will likely get Air Force over the six-win threshold. Matchups against Wyoming and SJSU could definitely end in wins as well.
Of course, the big win left on the schedule is Army, with the Falcons playing for the Commander-in-Chief Trophy after beating Navy already this year.
Add all of this up, and you likely have yourself a bowl-bound Air Force team.
Probability: Very Confident
Texas State
Current Record: 3-3 (1-1)
Remaining Schedule: Utah State, @ Boise State, @ Oregon State, Fresno State, Washington State, @ Colorado State*
*Flex Game
Needing three wins to get into bowl territory, the Bobcats may have missed their shot after losses to UTSA and a struggling San Diego State team.
Texas State now has to run a gauntlet of Boise State-Oregon State-Fresno State, with two of those matchups coming on the road.
The most probable path to six wins? Texas State will need to win its last two games, including a flex game against Colorado State.
The ‘Cats have already defeated Colorado State this season, but this matchup is likely due to change. Drawing up an exact blueprint for a six-win Texas State team feels unrealistic as of Oct. 16.
Probability: Not Confident
San Jose State
Current Record: 3-3 (1-1)
Remaining Schedule: @ UTEP, @ Nevada, New Mexico, Northern Illinois, @ Air Force, UNLV, North Dakota State
It is now or never for the Spartans. Quite literally.
San Jose State’s best opportunities for three more victories to get to six wins all come within their next four games. UTEP, Nevada and Northern Illinois.
SJSU has three wins and a conference win under their belt, but they have yet to truly dominate a game. The next two weeks against the Miners and Wolfpack are the ideal time to do so.
If they can’t do so, they will be staring at a final three-week stretch where they have to travel to Colorado Springs before taking on the Rebels and Bison. Not ideal.
Probability: Not That Confident, But Possible
Wyoming
Current Record: 3-3 (2-1)
Remaining Schedule: Northern Illinois, Air Force, @ UNLV, @ UTEP, New Mexico, UConn
The next six game weeks will be a rollercoaster for the Cowboys.
From likely wins with NIU and UTEP to troubling matchups against UNLV and New Mexico, this will likely be another down-to-the-wire scenario in the Mountain West, with their final game coming against UConn.
Wyoming was outclassed by Colorado State in the season opener, but since conference play opened, the ‘Boys have tallied some MW wins against Hawaii and SJSU.
If they can handle business against the Huskies and Miners, who knows what can happen in the remaining four games.
Probability: Somewhat Confident?
Your Turn: Which MW/PAC teams will find their way to bowl season?
