MOSCOW, October 14. /TASS/. The Digital Development Ministry helped Yandex secure additional sites to relocate key systems following attacks on its data centers, Digital Development Minister Maksut Shadayev told RBC.
"The Digital Development Ministry assisted Yandex in securing additional sites for the relocation of key systems. Despite the unprecedented attack on the data centers, the company managed to promptly transfer the operations of key systems to pre-prepared backup facilities," the minister said.
He noted that distributing infrastructure geographically helps reduce reliance on individual large facilities and preserve service availability even in the event of severe damage. The company is continuing restoration work and transferring its remaining systems to third-party sites.
Yandex's press service told RBC that the company has spent years building a distributed infrastructure and backup capacities at independent sites, without revealing details regarding their locations.
On October 11, Yandex completely halted operations at its Vladimir data center following a UAV attack. On October 9, part of the company's data center infrastructure in Kaluga was also damaged in a drone attack, leaving several modules completely out of service. A fire broke out at Yandex's data center in Sasovo, Ryazan Region, following a UAV attack, damaging part of the infrastructure.
