Veteran BJP leader and former Deputy Prime Minister LK Advani, 98, was admitted to Apollo Hospital in New Delhi on Friday evening after developing a chest infection. His condition is said to be stable.
Advani was brought to the hospital around 7.30 pm and is undergoing treatment in the pulmonary department.
The BJP stalwart was admitted to the same hospital due to age-related ailments in May, and was discharged after a few days.
The latest hospitalisation comes just over a week after Prime Minister Narendra Modi visited Advani at his New Delhi residence on October 7 and sought his blessings on completing 25 years as a head of government.
PM Modi has served continuously as head of a government since October 7, 2001, when he first became Gujarat chief minister.
He subsequently served three terms in the post before becoming prime minister and winning three consecutive Lok Sabha elections.
In a post on X after meeting Advani, PM Modi said the veteran leader's decades of public service and contribution to national life had left a lasting imprint. He also credited Advani with playing a pivotal role in strengthening India's progress.
