Harry Potter star Bonnie Wright gives birth to her second child and reveals son's unique name as she shares adorable snaps

Harry Potter star Bonnie Wright has revealed she's given birth to her second son – and given him an unusual name inspired by a flower - Aster Sky Wright Lococo.

The actress, 35, who played Ron Weasley's sister Ginny in all eight films, gave birth at home in California to her second child with husband Andrew Lococo, 42.

Bonnie shared the news on Instagram on Saturday, almost three weeks after Aster's arrival, giving a first glimpse of the newborn and revealing how he has been welcomed by his three-year-old brother, Elio Ocean.

'Say hello to our son Aster Sky Wright Lococo born at home on the 28th September,' Bonnie wrote, explaining that he was 'named after the star shaped flower,' she penned.

'Our little star has been showered in love by his big brother Elio. Thank you universe for my loving bundle of boys!'

The photos showed Aster sleeping in a striped babygrow and resting against Bonnie's chest and his older brother leaning into the newborn's pushchair.

Bonnie also thanked her two birth helpers, crediting them with 'guiding us through the birth portal'.

The unusual name continues the couple's preference for names inspired by the natural world, with their eldest son having been named Elio Ocean Wright Lococo.

Among those congratulating the family was Bonnie's former Harry Potter co-star Evanna Lynch, who played Luna Lovegood.

She commented: 'Congratulations Bonnie and Andrew!!! What a beautiful little guy and beautiful names'.

Scarlett Hefner, who appeared as Pansy Parkinson in the films, also sent her congratulations.

Bonnie revealed in April that she was expecting a second baby, sharing photos of Elio resting against her growing bump.

'Two babies on my lap,' she wrote at the time. 'Our second little earthling joining us this autumn!!'

Bonnie has spoken candidly about the realities of raising a young child, revealing that motherhood has even changed how she sees her famous screen family.

In an interview last year, she said the example set by Molly and Arthur Weasley in Harry Potter had made her think: 'I need to parent more like the Weasleys.'

She praised their unconditional love for their children, as well as their make-do-and-mend approach to family life.

And in a personal reflection shared last year, she admitted: 'Parenting is beautiful and brutal in equal measure.'

She described how her visions of peaceful outings collecting leaves with Elio sometimes gave way to the much less magical business of simply getting him dressed.

Bonnie and businessman Andrew met at a New Year's Eve party in 2018, after being introduced by a mutual friend whom Bonnie knew through an environmental group in LA.

The London-born actress moved from LA to San Diego to live with Andrew, and they got married in March 2022 at The Ecology Center, an organic farm in California.

Although best known for playing Ron Weasley's younger sister and Harry Potter's eventual wife, Bonnie has increasingly focused on film-making and environmental campaigning since the wizarding blockbuster series ended in 2011.

She has worked as a director, founded her own production company and published the sustainability guide Go Gently in 2022.

After becoming a mother, she also launched Hello Earthling, a project designed to encourage families and children to connect with nature through activities and a podcast.

Explaining how motherhood had changed her outlook, she has said: 'My world began spinning on an entirely new axis: madly in love with my child while trying to reconfigure my own identity.'

She said having Elio had made her determined to bring together her creative work and environmental interests, inspiring her to develop the children's project.
