CJ Logistics (000120.KS) said on the 23rd that its parcel box advertising business, which prints ads on delivery boxes sent to consumers nationwide, has surpassed 15 million cumulative ad placements.
The company prints advertisements on parcel boxes shipped from its e-commerce fulfillment centers and delivers them to consumers across the country. It launched the business in September last year with the Ministry of Health and Welfare's "No Dam" campaign to discourage smoking among teenagers, and has recently expanded into commercial advertising. The idol group Alpha Drive One and Walt Disney Company Korea's films "Avatar: Fire and Ash" and "Toy Story 5" have been promoted to consumers through parcel box ads.
CJ Logistics said the growth of the advertising business stems from the nature of parcel boxes, which are delivered to the consumer's doorstep. Ads naturally catch the eye as recipients take delivery and open the package, and boxes can carry event notices and coupon information to raise brand awareness and encourage consumer participation, the company said.
A CJ Logistics official said parcel box advertising is a distinctive medium that combines high reach with strong attention at the moment a package is opened, adding that the company aims to help advertisers convey their brand value effectively.
Meanwhile, CJ Logistics shipped about 56 million items through its e-commerce fulfillment operations in the first half of this year, up 37.7% from a year earlier. The company expects the volume growth to widen both the supply of parcel boxes available for advertising and the number of consumer touchpoints.
