Handbells in Peel is opening its doors to new members tomorrow with a free Christmas bell-ringing beginner group.
The group is inviting any interested music-lovers to join them on Thursday, October 22, at Arcadia Waters Lifestyle Village to learn the unique and therapeutic instrument of English handbell ringing in a dedicated six-week introductory course.

The beginners Christmas carol class will teach newcomers ringing techniques and music reading skills, with all instruments and equipment provided.
Musical director Carol Davis, who has been playing the instrument for more than 20 years, said the group was perfect for anyone with a love of music.
“We just have a love of music,” Ms Davis said.
“Handbells have a beautiful sound and vibration that gets inside you, and you can’t forget it. It’s so memorable.”
Handbells in Peel started in 2010 and some of its members have been ringing since its inception. It currently has 17 members playing two bells each.
They perform throughout the year by invitation at lifestyle villages, aged-care centres and community groups, with an array of genres in their repertoire including musical theatre, classical and pop music.
