Bangladeshi software company BDTask Limited has launched Velexa OMS, a multi-tenant order management system designed to provide separate trading services to multiple brokerage houses through a shared technology infrastructure.
In a press release issued today (17 October), BDTask said the software aims to reduce brokerage houses' technology costs and dependence on foreign software providers. The company also plans to expand the platform into international markets.
According to BDTask, Bangladesh has more than 300 brokerage houses, but developing, purchasing, and maintaining modern order management software remains expensive for many firms. Smaller brokerages, in particular, often lack the resources to maintain their own software and IT teams. Foreign software can also involve high costs, limited technical support, and potential risks associated with storing financial data outside the country.
BDTask Limited Managing Director Sams Mohammad Tarek said the company had spent the past five years developing capital market software to address these challenges.
"We have built a platform where each brokerage house will have its own independent system, while the entire setup remains centrally manageable and hosted in a data centre in Bangladesh," he said.
Tarek said the company plans to offer Velexa OMS on a subscription basis, charging a small fee on each transaction instead of requiring an upfront payment. This model, he said, would allow brokerage houses to avoid a large initial investment in trading software.
According to the company, the platform can serve multiple brokerage houses through a single software infrastructure while keeping each firm's orders, positions, and client information separate. A stock exchange could host the platform to provide services to its member brokers, while an individual brokerage house could also operate it independently.
Velexa OMS supports fast order routing and access to real-time market information. BDTask claims the system is designed to handle around 13,000 orders per second.
The platform includes web-based and mobile trading facilities for investors, client onboarding, risk-limit management, account-keeping functions, and tools for managing brokerage operations. It can also be connected to stock exchanges and used with a simulated market, the company said.
The system is designed to operate across multiple servers to help maintain service continuity. If one server encounters a problem, another can help keep operations running. Client and transaction data remain separate for each brokerage house, even when multiple firms use the same platform.
BDTask Limited Director Tanzil Ahmed said the multi-tenant architecture creates opportunities to market the software internationally. A stock exchange or regional technology partner could deploy the platform once and provide services to all its member firms.
He said BDTask was already in discussions with stock exchanges and brokerage firms in the Middle East. The company also plans to expand its international operations through its Riyadh office.
BDTask, a member of the Bangladesh Association of Software and Information Services (BASIS) and the Bangladesh Association of Contact Center and Outsourcing (BACCO), has been operating in domestic and international technology markets for more than 12 years.
The company says it has developed more than 40 software products across sectors including hospitality, retail, healthcare, fintech, education, airline ticketing, and agricultural technology. It employs around 80 people across its Dhaka and Riyadh offices.
