(ANSA) - ROMA, 22 OTT - Twelve officers and non-commissioned officers from the Senegalese Gendarmerie completed a specialized training course in Rome at the Carabinieri Command for the Protection of Cultural Heritage (TPC).
Established in 1969 as the world’s first unit specializing in this field, the Command shared its expertise with its Senegalese counterparts in preventing and combating the illicit trafficking of cultural property.
Funded by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and conducted in French, the course focused on three key areas: international legislation and the analysis of specific cases; investigative techniques and combating illicit online trafficking; and the use of specialized databases and international cooperation.
The Italian Embassy in Senegal emphasized that this was “a concrete example of collaboration between Italy and Senegal, united in their commitment to protecting and preserving the historical and cultural heritage of their respective countries.”
