Rays’ Junior Caminero explains his perfect Randy Arozarena tribute in ALCS Game 6 appeared first on ClutchPoints. Add ClutchPoints as a Preferred Source by clicking here.
Junior Caminero had one of the coldest moments of the 2026 MLB postseason during the Tampa Bay Rays’ 7-3 win in Game 6 of the ALCS against the Cleveland Guardians. In the bottom of the seventh inning, the Rays were holding on to a 3-1 lead as Caminero came to the plate following a leadoff walk by Liam Hicks. Caminero then uncorked a huge swing on the first pitch he saw from Guardians closer Cade Smith, driving it to deep left field and hitting the ball off the foul pole for a two-run home run to extend their lead to 5-1.
As if those insurance runs weren’t already important enough, especially when the Guardians would score two runs in the top half of the eighth, Caminero, as he rounded the bases for his crucial long ball, paid tribute to former Rays star Randy Arozarena. The Rays third baseman paused for a bit, pointed towards his former teammate who was in attendance for Game 6, and hit his signature celebration.
After the game, Caminero sat down with the TNT booth and explained his tribute to the former Rays outfielder who starred in Tampa Bay’s 2020 postseason run.

“Randy Arozarena is behind home plate. And I saw him, and I tell him, before going to home plate, I say, ‘Look at me,'” Caminero said, via the official MLB account on X.

Caminero wasn’t yet the star that he was during Arozarena’s time with the Rays. It was in 2025 when Caminero truly broke out, and Arozarena was already with the Seattle Mariners by then after Tampa Bay traded him at the deadline of what was a disappointing 2024 campaign.
Arozarena is most known among Rays fans for his contributions during the 2020 MLB postseason. In 20 postseason games, Arozarena put up 10 home runs and 14 runs batted in on a bonkers OPS of 1.273.
The Rays, however, fell short in six games against the Los Angeles Dodgers in the World Series. Can Caminero help the Rays get over the hump and redeem that past Fall Classic heartbreak?
