The family of the late elder statesman and foremost nationalist, Pa Reuben Famuyide Fasoranti, CFR, has officially announced the burial arrangements for the former leader of the pan-Yoruba socio-political group, Afenifere, who passed away at the age of 100.
In a statement issued on behalf of the family by Dr. Taiwo Fasoranti, Secretary to the Ondo State Government, the funeral rites will span several days in Akure, the Ondo State capital.
The events will commence with a Christian Wake-Keeping Service on Wednesday, December 16, 2026, at 4:00 p.m., at the late patriarch’s residence within the Omolere Nursery and Primary School Compound, Akure.
The Funeral Service and Interment will take place on Thursday, December 17, 2026, at 10:00 a.m. at St. David’s Cathedral, Ijomu, Akure. Interment will follow immediately after the church service at the Cathedral Cemetery.

Following the burial, a reception for invited guests and dignitaries will hold at his residence.
The funeral ceremonies will conclude on Sunday, December 20, 2026, with an Outing and Thanksgiving Service at St. David’s Cathedral, Ijomu, Akure, starting at 10:00 a.m.
The family has called on friends, associates, and well-wishers to join them in prayers and attendance as they celebrate the remarkable life and enduring legacy of the distinguished statesman and patriot.
