Vanderbilt is on a three-game slide, going 0-3 in the SEC. It hasn’t been totally awful, but it doesn’t have the same juice this season without Diego Pavia under center. It also doesn’t help that the SEC is stronger, and that includes an improved Arkansas team.
The Hogs are just 2-4 and have just one win over an FBS team, but they’re far more competitive in the first year under Ryan Silverfield.
The defense is stronger, there’s hope for the near future, and yeah, it’s hard to get off to a hot start against Georgia, Utah, Tennessee, and Texas A&M. But if there’s any dream of getting to six wins and a bowl, the Hogs have to win this.

Why Arkansas Will Win
Vanderbilt isn’t getting anything moving on the ground. It has yet to get past 132 yards against any FBS team. It’s averaging under three yards per carry in the SEC, and it’s struggling with overall offensive consistency.
Arkansas isn’t getting gouged like it was last season. Georgia was able to run wild, and Texas A&M rumbled well last week, but Vanderbilt won’t be able to take control of the tempo.
Why Vanderbilt Will Win
The Arkansas defense might be improved, but it’s still nothing special. The offense doesn’t have the pop this year to take advantage of its chances.
Turnovers have been the issue for the Commodores, but that’s partly because they have to press too much in games that get out of hand. As long as they’re not screwing up, they have a chance. That starts on the lines – the Hogs aren’t doing anything to get into the backfield, and their own running game isn’t generating any sort of a push.
Arkansas vs Vanderbilt Prediction, Betting Lines
It’s a desperation game for both. Both teams are having the same issues, but it’ll come down to who makes the most mistakes.
Vanderbilt is getting hit with way more penalties, and the ten turnovers over the last five games can’t continue. Arkansas is giving it up once a game since the opener, and that one extra Commodore mistake will matter.
