Tamil Nadu Chief Minister C. Joseph Vijay on Thursday launched the Tamil Nadu Semiconductor Ecosystem Scheme 2026 at the Secretariat in Chennai. The scheme aims to establish Tamil Nadu as a leading semiconductor and advanced electronics manufacturing hub in India and attract fresh investments in the semiconductor sector.
The Union government approved the Semicon India Programme 2.0 on July 15, 2026, with the objective of strengthening the entire semiconductor value chain, including chip design, semiconductor manufacturing equipment and raw materials, wafer fabrication (fabs), research and development, and skill development, said an official release.
The Tamil Nadu Semiconductor Ecosystem Scheme launched by the Chief Minister is proposed to be implemented under two categories.
