…says APC evidently tired of governance, careless about people’s welfare in the state
A new socio-political group, under the aegis of The Reformers, has been formally unveiled in Lagos, with a declaration of total support for the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Presidential Candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, in the 2027 General Elections.
The movement, which parades professionals, academics and upwardly mobile middle-class entrepreneurs, said it was born out of frustration with over two decades of personalized, one-man-rule governance system in Lagos, and the culture of compromise, betrayal and sellouts that has bedeviled opposition politics in the state.
The group, which was unveiled at the weekend, is coordinated by a 2015 Mega Party Governorship Candidate, an entrenched politician and former Lagos State ADC Chairman, who is also a pastor, academic, and media practitioner, Dr. Kayode Jacobs, supported by some other former and current National Assembly opposition candidates.
They include Hon. Adewunmi Benjamin, Chief (Hon.) Lateef Olorunoje, Dr Dayo Kayode, Dr. John Kome, Dr. (Hon.) Emilia Ezeude, Chief (Hon.) Christopher Ediale, Hon. Oluwaseyi Sarumi, Hon. Bayo Ogunsola, Hon. Babajide Adisa and Hon. Ronke Ewumi, among others.
Announcing the emergence of the group in Lagos, its Spokesperson, Hon. Muhammed Emiabata, an international IT entrepreneur, said The Reformers is not just a political interest group, but a consciousness of Nigerians who have decided to take their destiny in their own hands in order to make Nigeria truly independent and great again.

“The Reformers is the coming together of men and women tired of over two decades of personalized governance trajectory in Lagos, where one hand directs governance and the same hand secretly controls the opposition to the extent that our opposition politics has been bedeviled by compromise, betrayals, sellouts and backstabbing. We want to change that narrative,” he said.
Emiabata disclosed that while the movement’s original focus is Lagos, it has been compelled to go national after falling in love with the masses-oriented programmes of the ADC Presidential Candidate, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.
“The original focus of the movement is Lagos, but we have come to terms with the masses-oriented programs of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar, especially the ones relating to education, youth employment and subsidy reform. His blueprint directly addresses the ‘Jagba’, area boys snatch -it syndrome that has afflicted our youths in almost every Lagos home, and disrupted our socio-economic life,” he said.
According to him, the endorsement of Alhaji Atiku Abubakar and the ADC is total, saying that the movement would mobilize the silent majority across Lagos and beyond for victory in 2027.
Emiabata said, to achieve this goal, the movement intended to reawaken principled opposition, mobilize the silent middle class and professionals back into politics, and rescue Lagos youths from thuggery and joblessness through skills and entrepreneurial opportunities.
He called on well-meaning Lagosians and Nigerians at home and in the diaspora to join the movement, stressing that “a new Nigeria is possible with massive reorientation and renewed patriotism which is currently missing.”
