The Podanur Train Users’ Association on Friday (October 23) submitted key demands pertaining to stoppage of express trains and revision of timings to Southern Railway General Manager U. Subba Rao.
A petition submitted by association president N. Subramanian called for stoppage in Podanur Railway Junction for three express trains: Coimbatore/Mangalore (22610, 22609), Ernakulam/Bangalore Intercity Express (16377, 16378), and Ernakulam/Karaikal Express (16188, 16187); and restoration of previous timings for Coimbatore/Shoranur passenger and Shoranur/Coimbatore passenger train.
The association also requested the Southern Railway to have the entrance to the Podanur Railway Junction on the northern side.
The northern side was the most suitable and direct route for entry of passenger vehicles. The exit could be through the eastern gate, the association said.
There was a straight road connecting the northern side, Mr. Subramanian said, urging the authorities to consider the long-time demand for having the entrance on the north side.
