Kwangdong Pharmaceutical (009290) is holding a children's art contest to raise environmental awareness among younger generations and support creative expression. The company is expanding the program beyond prizes for winning entries to include gifted art education and a special exhibition.
Kwangdong Pharmaceutical said on the 13th that it is holding the 7th Gasan Environmental Love Children's Art Contest for children nationwide.
This year's theme is "A Healthy Earth, A Healthy Us." The contest is open to all kindergarten children aged 5 to 7 and elementary school students across the country. Participants draw their ideas about environmental protection and a healthy future, then photograph the artwork and submit it through the official website. There is no limit on the number of entries, and both individual and group submissions are accepted.
Entries will be accepted through Nov. 29, and winners will be announced on Dec. 24. Awards will go to 566 individuals and four groups, including prizes from the minister of education and the minister of climate, energy and environment. Individual awards include art, children's, environment and creativity prizes.
The company has also arranged follow-up programs for winners. Top award recipients will be offered places in a creativity development program run by the Institute for Gifted Education in Art at Seoul National University of Education. Parents will receive vouchers for a parenting education course on raising children in the age of artificial intelligence. Leading entries will be shown to the public at a special offline exhibition in 2027.
"We hope this contest becomes a meaningful opportunity for children to build sound environmental values and develop their creativity," an official at Kwangdong Pharmaceutical said. "We will continue to practice environmental, social and governance management through sustained community contribution activities."
Now in its seventh year, the Gasan Environmental Love Children's Art Contest is one of Kwangdong Pharmaceutical's signature community programs. The name "Gasan" comes from the pen name of the late Choi Soo-boo, the company's founder. The contest is co-organized by Kwangdong Pharmaceutical and the Institute for Gifted Education in Art at Seoul National University of Education.
