There was tension at the Federal High Court in Abuja on Monday when a lawyer allegedly referred to African Action Congress presidential candidate Omoyele Sowore as a “tout.”
In a now-viral video making the rounds on social media, the activist could be seen confronting the said lawyer, identified as Yakubu, to withdraw his statement.
Sowore frowned at the lawyer’s act, questioning the reason why he (the lawyer) addressed him in such a manner.
“Why did you call me a tout? What have I done to you? You have to withdraw that insult. How can you say I am a tout? For what? For exercising my rights?
“You have no right to insult me. I don’t have any problem with you. He is an idiot; he shouldn’t have insulted me in a courtroom. He’s a lawyer; he should know better,” Sowore said, among others.
In the video, some of Sowore’s supporters c condemned the lawyer for his alleged act against the AAC presidential candidate.
The incident occurred ahead of the commencement of proceedings on Monday in Sowore’s ongoing trial for cyberbullying President Bola Tinubu, where he was accused of calling him a “criminal” on his official social media handle.
