The election signs will barely be down when crypto policy takes the stage in Washington. The Block and The Hill plan to host the Capitol Crypto Forum on November 19, 2026, an invitation-only gathering of lawmakers, regulators, and executives from digital assets and financial services.
The timing is the point. The forum lands just after the 2026 US midterms, which gives it a shot at shaping how a newly elected Congress approaches crypto rules.
What the forum is and who is behind it
The event pairs two outlets that usually cover very different beats. The Block is a digital asset news and research firm. The Hill is a Washington political outlet.
According to the research findings, this is the first joint venture between the two.
The forum will be held in Washington, D.C. It is scheduled as a half-day event.
Attendance is by invitation only.
The organizers announced the forum on September 24, 2026. That leaves roughly eight weeks between the announcement and the event itself, with a national election sitting in the middle.
What’s on the agenda
The planned topics read like a list of crypto’s longest-running policy debates. They include market structure for digital assets, stablecoins, tokenization, and the role blockchain technology can play in financial innovation.
Market structure refers to the basic rulebook for how digital assets are classified, traded, and overseen. In practical terms, it is the question of which regulator gets to supervise what, and under which set of rules.
Stablecoins are tokens designed to hold a steady value, usually pegged to a currency like the US dollar. Policymakers care about them because they behave a lot like money, and money tends to attract regulatory attention.
Tokenization means representing real-world assets, such as securities or funds, as tokens on a blockchain.
Steve Chung, CEO of The Block, has stressed the value of putting key policymakers and industry leaders in the same room. In his framing, the goal is to help shape the conversation around how legislation will affect digital assets.
Why the post-midterm timing matters
Midterm elections reshuffle Congress. Some lawmakers leave, new ones arrive, and committee priorities can shift with the results.
Holding the forum in November puts it in the window right after the votes are counted. Lawmakers will be thinking about their agendas for the coming session.
What this means for the industry and investors
The research findings suggest the forum could influence how investors and traders perceive regulatory direction.
The partnership itself is also worth watching. A crypto-native publisher teaming up with a mainstream political outlet reflects how closely the two worlds now overlap.
The topics to track are the ones on the agenda. Watch for any signals on market structure, which shapes who oversees the industry. Watch stablecoin discussions, given how closely they sit to the traditional payments system. And watch tokenization, where crypto and conventional finance are converging fastest.
