Erling Haaland has urged Manchester City to remain united and mentally strong amid the club’s ongoing Premier League financial charges

Erling Haaland has urged Manchester City to remain united and mentally strong amid the club’s ongoing Premier League financial charges after helping the Citizens secure a 3-0 victory over 10-man Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday.
The Norwegian striker opened the scoring before Jeremy Doku and Rayan Cherki added second-half goals, giving City a convincing win in their first match since an independent commission found the club guilty of more than 100 breaches of Premier League financial rules.

Man City are appealing the findings, which could have significant implications for the club’s future. However, Haaland said the players must focus on their performances rather than matters beyond their control.
“Every single person that is part of Man City, and every fan, this is a lovely moment that will stay with us for a long time,” Haaland said.
“It was hard, but we showed amazing character from back to front. So proud of everyone. It’s always tough to come here.
“It’s important to stay strong mentally, stick together, and do what you can do about it, and the thing we can do about it is to play good football and fight together. That’s the only thing we can do.”
City faced taunts from Liverpool supporters over the financial case but showed little sign of being distracted as they secured three important points in the Premier League title race.

Liverpool midfielder Ryan Gravenberch was sent off after receiving two yellow cards shortly before Haaland opened the scoring, leaving the hosts with 10 men for the remainder of the contest.
The Citizens capitalised on the numerical advantage, with Doku and Cherki completing the scoring to move the defending champions three points clear at the top of the table.
The victory offered a strong response to the scrutiny surrounding the club, although the outcome of their appeal remains uncertain. Possible sanctions have been widely discussed, including a points deduction, but no final punishment has been imposed.
Haaland said the team’s immediate responsibility was to keep performing while the club dealt with the case.
“You want to win games; it’s as simple as that. Perform well, play good football, and win games. This was a mental battle,” he said.
“Proud that we managed to stick together; we are mentally strong. Plenty of games coming up, so time to recover and go again.”
