… says ouster of Tinubu will reverse economic growth
Ahead of next January’s presidential election, the All Progressives Congress Presidential Campaign Council (APC PCC) has advised Nigerians not to fall for the electoral promises of the opposition parties.
Checks revealed that presidential candidates of certain opposition parties have promised to return the contentious subsidy regime and some other policies of the Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration.
Addressing Nigerians on Thursday at a media session, one of the spokespersons of the APC PCC, Otunba Segun Showunmi, urged the electorate not to fall prey to such assurances, as he maintained that the gains of the economic reforms of the present administration would be frustrated if the baton of leadership changes hands.
He said, “Leadership is ultimately about direction, courage, capacity and the ability to mobilise a nation towards a common purpose.
“President Tinubu has placed economic restructuring, investment mobilisation, infrastructure development, education, energy reform and the strengthening of public institutions at the centre of his administration’s agenda.
“These are important areas of national development because they determine whether a country can create sustainable wealth, generate employment and provide its citizens with a better quality of life.
“The significance of this moment is that Nigeria has an opportunity to build upon the reforms and initiatives already underway, deepen their impact and translate them into greater prosperity for millions of people.
“I believe that continuity under President Tinubu offers an opportunity to consolidate this national project and move with greater speed towards the Nigeria we all desire.
“We must think beyond the immediate political season. We must think about the Nigeria of 2030, 2040 and beyond. We must consider the industries we want to build, the infrastructure we want to complete, the skills our young people must acquire, the opportunities we want our businesses to enjoy and the quality of life we want every Nigerian family to experience.
“A second term should be a period of accelerated delivery, expanded opportunity and a more visible connection between national economic progress and household prosperity. That is the future I support.”
The APC chieftain further argued that giving a fresh mandate to the incumbent President Tinubu would afford him the opportunity to move his economic transformation of the country from ongoing reform to prosperity.

He said,” The ultimate purpose of economic reform is to unlock the productive potential of a nation.
“Nigeria must become a country that produces more, manufactures more, processes more, exports more and creates more value from its abundant resources.
“We must expand beyond an excessive dependence on crude oil and develop a diversified economy driven by manufacturing, agriculture, agro-processing, technology, solid minerals, petrochemicals, gas, tourism, logistics and modern services.
“We must build an environment in which local entrepreneurs can expand, international investors can establish productive enterprises, small businesses can grow into larger companies and young Nigerians can transform their ideas into successful ventures.
“This is the promise of a more productive Nigeria.
“When electricity becomes more dependable, businesses gain the opportunity to operate more efficiently. When transportation networks improve, farmers reach markets more easily and manufacturers move goods at lower cost. When access to finance expands, entrepreneurs can invest and create jobs.
“When education is connected to practical skills, young people become better equipped to participate in the modern economy.
“Every reform that strengthens these foundations expands the possibilities available to Nigerians.
“This is why I believe the Tinubu administration’s reform agenda deserves sustained national support.
“Our ambition must be to transform Nigeria into a major manufacturing, agricultural-processing and logistics hub for West and Central Africa. Our market, location, people and entrepreneurial capacity give us the potential to achieve much more than we have achieved so far.
“We should aspire to be a country that attracts industries, develops competitive supply chains, creates millions of productive opportunities over time and exports goods and services to the world.
“Nigeria must not be content to consume the products of other nations. We must build the capacity to produce for ourselves and for the wider African market.
“That is how nations create durable prosperity. That is how economies generate opportunities for successive generations.
“And that is the scale of ambition our country deserves.”
