A charity padel tournament in Albufeira has raised €3,000 for the Portuguese League Against Cancer, bringing together 184 players for two days of competition in support of the cause.
The second Solidarity Team Tournament (Torneio Solidário de Equipas), organised by local padel club Padel4move with support from Albufeira Council, took place on October 10 and 11 as part of the Pink October campaign.

Played in teams of four, the tournament featured male and female categories across different playing levels, with organisers placing as much emphasis on solidarity and teamwork as on the results themselves.
Held under the motto “Together for a cause”, the event raised funds for the Portuguese League Against Cancer’s Southern Regional Branch.

Albufeira councillor Maria Cristina Corado, who attended the tournament, highlighted the importance of initiatives which combine sport with community causes.
“Albufeira Council is proud to be associated with initiatives that combine sport and solidarity and mobilise the community around causes as important as the fight against cancer,” she said.
The tournament was also part of the official programme of Albufeira European City of Sport 2026, with support from several partners including Designer Outlet Algarve.
Organisers thanked the players, partners and everyone who contributed to the event, saying the strong participation had turned the tournament into a collective contribution towards the work carried out by the Portuguese League Against Cancer.
