“The Gentlemen” has multiple new cast members for Season 3 — including “Lord of the Rings” alums Orlando Bloom and Elijah Wood — following the drama over Meghan Markle’s possible involvement.
Netflix announced Friday that Bloom, Wood, Robert Carlyle, Dexter Fletcher, Bruna Marquezine, Ed Speleers, Saffron Burrows and Bugzy Malone are all joining the Guy Ritchie-created series.
In addition, the network confirmed Daniel Ings is leaving the show after two seasons. He played Lord Frederick “Freddy” Horniman, the older brother of Theo James’ character, Eddie Horniman.
Markle, 45, indeed won’t be in Season 3, after there was buzz over the summer that the Duchess of Sussex — who famously quit acting in 2017 upon her engagement to Prince Harry — was eyeing a role in the crime drama series.
Netflix boss Manda Levin fueled speculation about Markle’s casting with a cryptic response at the Edinburgh TV Festival in August.
“All bets are off,” Levin replied when asked about the “Suits” alum joining the show.
The following month, Page Six exclusively reported that Markle never actually got an offer and had one conversation with the series casting director.
“She took it as an offer. And it wasn’t,” one insider told us. “And [she and husband Prince Harry] thought it would be helpful in the moment for there to be a reason for their move.”
Another source told us there was never a formal offer, but interest in the As Ever founder joining the cast was initiated by Ritchie, 58.
Last week, Markle’s friend claimed Netflix “used” the rumors about the mom of two joining the cast to promote the show’s second season, which premiered on Sept. 3.
“It’s the oldest marketing trick in the book: get a big name to read a script, then leak that you’re ‘in conversation’ with them when, in reality, nothing is particularly far along,” the pal told the Telegraph.
The friend added that “the whole thing left a bit of a sour taste in the Sussex camp’s mouth,” and claimed that “Netflix got what it wanted: huge viewing figures for season two and a lot of publicity.”
Markle, as an actress, is most famous for playing Rachel Zane on the legal drama “Suits” from 2011 to 2018.
On the big screen, she appeared in 2010’s “Remember Me” and 2011’s “Horrible Bosses.”
Last year, Markle filmed a cameo in “Close Personal Films,” an upcoming comedy featuring Brie Larson, Lily Collins, Jack Quaid and Henry Golding.
