Panic began to spread across the northern strip of Chihuahua בעקבות several incidents reported by residents of the area. According to reports and investigations published by international media such as the British newspaper The Sun, security cameras with motion sensors allegedly captured the strange beast, unleashing a wave of theories about its origin.
This phenomenon has once again sparked fascination with the unknown and stories about unidentified fauna in rural areas of the border. On social media and local forums, the debate has become polarized between those who claim it is a real threat to the community and those who believe it is just a viral hoax.
The released images show blurry figures that have reignited fear among ranchers in the region, concerned about the safety of their herds. Below, we review all the details surrounding this case, the images circulating, and the different explanations put forward to date.
A mysterious predator in the Juárez Valley
According to local testimonies collected during the recent inquiries, several residents reported the mysterious disappearance of hens, roosters, and rabbits from their pens. One of the accounts that raised alarm came from a local child, who claimed to have seen an animal grab a hen by the head before quickly climbing to the top of a tree.
After the first reports spread, Jaime Maussan's collaborators went to the site and installed trail cameras at key points. The photographic and infrared footage captured a quadrupedal specimen with light-colored fur, a long tail, and limbs with long fingers climbing a brick wall, lwhich made it possible to estimate that the animal measures close to 1.8 meters in length, including its 90-centimeter tail.
Although the recordings show the creature moving agilely on four legs, the case investigators claim that it would have the ability to stand upright and propel itself in large jumps. However, in the released footage it is not seen walking bipedally at any point.
Interdimensional beast or biological mutation?
The controversial statements raised in the Mexican and international press fueled the debate by suggesting that the specimen does not correspond to any mammal recorded in the area. Within ufological circles, some have even speculated that the being does not necessarily come from outer space, but rather could have crossed over to Earth from a parallel dimension given its unusual physiognomy and abilities.
On the other hand, biologists and wildlife specialists who have reviewed the case flatly rule out supernatural or extraterrestrial explanations. The leading scientific hypothesis suggests that it could be a local mammal with some genetic mutation or malformation, or simply a visual misidentification caused by common animals seen from unusual angles, such as raccoons, wild cats, or large rodents.
This type of sighting often evokes famous precedents from popular culture in Mexico, such as the legend of the Chupacabras or the Metepec Creature in the 1990s. In all of those historical cases, subsequent biological and genetic analyses ended up proving that they were known animals or elaborate hoaxes.
The authorities' stance and official skepticism
Despite the strong impact caused on social media and the concern of several local families, Ciudad Juárez Civil Protection agencies ruled out any kind of official alert. Municipal authorities clarified that there are no formal reports filed with the police nor confirmed complaints about creatures attacking livestock or threatening neighbors.
Likewise, border and institutional authorities in the state of Texas, on the other side of the U.S. border, confirmed that there are no records of attacks on animals or unusual sightings within their territory. Therefore, official agencies have asked the population to remain calm and avoid spreading unfounded rumors.
Independent experts and researchers call for caution regarding this type of news, recalling previous controversial episodes linked to Maussan, such as the presentation before the Congress of Mexico of alleged three-fingered mummies found in Peru, which subsequent scientific analyses identified as assemblages made with human and animal remains. For the time being, the presence of this creature in Juárez remains a viral phenomenon without proven biological basis.
