Qatar says diplomatic contacts between Iran and the United States are continuing, with hopes of reaching an agreement despite rising regional tensions. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Majed Al Ansari shared the update on Tuesday.
Al Ansari said both sides remained engaged in diplomatic communication. He added that limited public information about the discussions could help the process. Keeping negotiations confidential, he explained, was important for diplomatic efforts to succeed.

However, the Qatari spokesperson warned that growing tensions were making the regional situation increasingly difficult. He cautioned that uncontrolled escalation could push the wider region towards war. His remarks highlighted concerns about the consequences of continued confrontation.
Al Ansari also stressed that a ceasefire should not be treated as the final goal. Instead, he described it as an initial step towards broader peace efforts. He called for simultaneous de-escalation across regional conflicts, including the conflict in Yemen.
The spokesperson further warned that political statements from Israeli leaders could contribute to greater instability. He did not provide specific examples in the statement. His comments came amid wider concerns about rising tensions across the Middle East.

Qatar also reaffirmed its support for Saudi Arabia in protecting its sovereignty. Al Ansari said Riyadh had the right to defend itself against Houthi attacks. He reiterated Doha’s position in support of Saudi Arabia’s territorial security.
Qatar’s statement underscored the importance of continued diplomacy to prevent further escalation. Although officials expressed hope for an agreement, they announced no final deal or timeline. The spokesperson’s remarks pointed to the need for confidential negotiations and broader efforts to reduce tensions across the region.
