PETALING JAYA: The Malaysian Anti-Corruption Commission (MACC) will work with the police to investigate the RM314 million arrears MyEG Sdn Bhd and Zetrix AI Bhd owe the road transport department (JPJ).
MACC said it received an official complaint on the issue last Wednesday and would work closely with the police to share information under their respective jurisdictions.
"The police will share any information they have if there are elements of corruption for MACC to act on," it said in a statement.
The anti-graft agency also urged parties with information on the matter to come forward.
"MACC will not compromise on any wrongdoing but will investigate the case independently, fairly and based on the law," it added.
JPJ suspended MyEG and Zetrix, previously MyEG Services Bhd, as its collection agents for fees and summonses after it was revealed that they owed the department hundreds of millions in arrears since May.
Transport minister Loke Siew Fook said Zetrix owed JPJ RM314 million, and that it was issued 35 notices for payment.
Loke also said Zetrix submitted a cheque for RM231 million in August, but the bank later told JPJ it could not be processed on the company’s orders.
Zetrix subsequently submitted a proposal to address the arrears, saying its immediate priority was to resolve the obligations and work towards restoring its suspended services.
