Jordan Henderson says it is an "absolute privilege and honour" to be playing in this Chelsea team, after the midfielder helped the Blues record back-to-back wins for the first time since his arrival.
Henderson's introduction to Chelsea supporters was delayed by an arm injury he picked up with England at the FIFA World Cup in the summer. He has made up for lost time since returning, marking his home debut with two goals and an assist in the 5-1 win over Bournemouth at Stamford Bridge, with his first goal arriving with just one minute on the clock.
He followed that up on Saturday as Chelsea beat previously unbeaten Everton 2-0. Pedro Neto scored both goals, handing Everton their first defeat of 2026/27Premier League season, giving Chelsea a first-ever win at the Hill Dickinson Stadium and lifting them to fourth in the Premier League, the club reported.
Henderson was a surprise signing at Chelsea in the summer, with the veteran arriving from Brentford on a free transfer.
The 36-year-old has added vital experience to the Chelsea dressing room, and says he is relishing a leadership role in a talented group.
“I'm loving playing football at the minute. I've come back in the last month or so from my injury and it's an absolute privilege and honour to be playing with some of the players in this team.”

Speaking toChelsea FC, the midfielder pointed to the quality around him and a growing bond within the squad.
"I'm just enjoying it, working with them every day and playing with them out on the pitch. There's some top quality, top talent, here, and I really feel like the team's beginning to take shape in terms of the togetherness and everything," he said.
Henderson acknowledged that the summer brought plenty of upheaval, with new coaching staff and new players arriving, but said he could feel the togetherness building both on and off the training pitch, describing it as important for the team going forward.
"We've still got a lot to improve on"
Despite the two straight league wins, Henderson believes there is plenty more to come from the side as it continues to develop under Xabi Alonso.
“I know we've still got a lot to improve on as a team, but I feel as though in the last couple of weeks we're going in the right direction. So, we'll go back to the training ground and keep working hard for the next game.”

That next game is a London derby, with Chelsea hosting Tottenham Hotspur at Stamford Bridge.
