Lerato Kganyago's husband Thami Ndlala has spoken out after reports emerged that he was arrested outside Randburg Magistrates Court on Monday, 12 October 2026, flatly denying that he was taken into custody and distancing himself from a key piece of evidence in the case against him.
Ndlala, a socialite and businessman, was at the domestic court in connection with a protection order applied for by model Blue Mbombo. According to eNCA reporter Pule Letshwiti-Jones, Ndlala acknowledged being present in court for the protection order matter but denied that the cellphone number allegedly used to intimidate Mbombo is registered to him. He also maintained that he was never arrested.
Sources told Letshwiti-Jones that Ndlala had been in meetings with lawyers as the situation continued to unfold.
NPA confirms arrest of 45-year-old
The National Prosecuting Authority's position tells a different story. The NPA confirmed that a 45-year-old man was arrested for intimidation after a warrant was signed on Friday, directly contradicting Ndlala's account.
Mail and Guardian further reported that officers swooped on Ndlala just outside court 20 of the Randburg Magistrates Court. When SAPS moved in, he allegedly attempted to flee, but officers caught up with him and bundled him into a police vehicle. Ndlala faces charges of intimidation and extortion — charges he had claimed on social media last week had been dropped.
Central to the dispute is a WhatsApp conversation screenshot circulating online. The chat, between a contact named "Thabo" and an unknown user, shows a missed voice call, several deleted messages, and the replies "I don't know Thabo" and "I've recorded video." Ndlala's denial that the number belongs to him makes this exchange a contested piece of evidence.
