The first alarm call came in at 3:45 a.m. Saturday. But it wasn't until 4:20 a.m. that the first team was sent to the grocery store. Flames were then visible from the roof, reports Göteborgs-Posten.
The first call we received contained very vague information. We chose not to respond at that time. The person did not see any flames or anything like that, so we had nothing to act on, says Niclas Fogelqvist, duty officer at the Greater Gothenburg Rescue Service, to GP.
The store will be closed for at least a week for cleanup. The emergency services will investigate how the alarm was handled, the newspaper reports.
