The skates have been sharpened, the sticks taped, and the jerseys fitted. It's finally time to get back on the ice for the start of a new NHL season.
Carolina Hurricanes certainly aren't resting on their laurels after their Stanley Cup win and have blown away their opposition in the early weeks of the new campaign to send a message to the rest of the division but they are not without early competition.
Ice hockey's heady mix of skill, power and aggression makes it a thrilling watch and a new season means fresh storylines are set to unravel.
