IMPHAL, Oct 14: Following incidents of violence including arson between Kukis and Nagas on October 10, 2026, strong security measures have been put in place at Kamjong and Chassad.
Notably, four people were killed and around 20 houses and shops were burnt down during the October 10 violence.
A field assessment made by The Sangai Express following the violent clash found strong security deployment in the area.
One Oration Jajo (65) told The Sangai Express that several houses-cum-shops belonging to Naga families were burnt down in the October 10 violence and goods worth several lakhs were reduced to ashes.
Apart from burning down houses-cum-shops, Kukis opened fire with sophisticated weapons and many bullets hit the nearby police station, he said.
Oration Jajo asked how long the Government will remain a silent spectator when Kuki militants armed with sophisticated weapons are attacking innocent citizens repeatedly.
He recalled that suspected KNA(B) militants attacked Ningchou village on the same day and killed two villagers.
It would be a very costly mistake if such simultaneous and coordinated attacks are overlooked, Oration Jajo said.
He also expressed keen desire for the Government to take up strong security measures in all vulnerable areas.
Saying that Kuki militants opened fire from near Chassad’s Assam Rifles post too during the October 10 attack, he said that the villagers have lost all trust in the paramilitary force.
