Bangladesh Police have recovered and returned a lost MacBook to German tourist Kirill Lander.
Inspector General of Police (IGP) Md Ali Hossain Fakir formally handed over the laptop to him at Police Headquarters this morning (13 October), in the presence of additional IGPs and other senior police officials.
Lander arrived in Bangladesh on 23 September to visit the country's historical sites and tourist attractions. On 7 October, while waiting at Natore Railway Station to travel to India through the Darshana border, he left his laptop and camera in the station's waiting room and went to a nearby ATM booth to withdraw money.
When he returned and found the items missing, he sought police assistance at Natore Police Station.
The laptop contained records of his activities over the previous six months, along with important documents.
Following his written complaint, teams from Natore Sadar Police Station, Natore District Police, Railway Police and Tourist Police launched a search.
The laptop was recovered from Noor Clothing Store in the Kapuriapatti area of Natore Sadar at around 9:30pm on 11 October, through a coordinated effort by the police units.
Lander expressed his gratitude to Bangladesh Police and shared his positive experiences during his visit to Bangladesh.
In recognition of their role in promptly resolving the foreign tourist's complaint, recovering the laptop and enhancing the image of Bangladesh Police, IGP Fakir awarded financial rewards to Natore Sadar Police Station Officer-in-Charge Md Monsur Rahman and Sub-Inspector Mohammad Shahadat Hossain.
The IGP praised the officers' efficiency, dedication, sense of responsibility and teamwork. He also instructed all police units to provide prompt and professional services, ensure the safety of local and foreign citizens, strengthen public trust and help create a tourist-friendly environment.
