Colombo, Oct. 23 (Daily Mirror) - Colombo Chief Magistrate Asanga S. Bodaragama today rejected a motion filed by Buddhist monks participating in a Satyagraha protest at Viharamahadevi Park in Colombo, seeking to challenge or vary a court order issued yesterday directing the protesters to vacate the premises.
The Magistrate also rejected a separate request seeking the issuance of arrest warrants, made pursuant to a motion filed by the Attorney General.
The court further ruled that if the order was violated, the police were empowered to take appropriate legal action under the Penal Code.
