Abstraction layers can unify fragmented tokenized stock markets, letting users trade across issuers and blockchains more easily, according to Enso co-founder and CEO Connor Howe.
Speaking on Fintech.TV on Tuesday, Howe said users should not have to choose between multiple versions of the same stock or understand how to move assets between networks to trade them.
“For example, Nvidia is stocked across Robinhood, xStocks, and Securitize. By having these three different versions, users are actually getting confused: what is the real one, which is not so. One way this can actually be a lot easier is people starting using an abstracted version such as Enso being able to interact with any of these versions of the Nvidia stock across any different chain,” Howe explained.
The same approach is helping financial applications incorporate crypto-based services into familiar interfaces, Howe said. Users can acquire tokenized assets and potentially use them as collateral for loans or other DeFi products without needing to understand all the underlying technical processes.
“Ether.fi is the largest, second largest neo bank instead of crypto, and they fully rely upon the Enso infrastructure for how to buy, sell, hold, trade, or even use these assets inside of DeFi, which gets very interesting once you start unpacking it,” Howe pointed out.
“Of not only once they obtain these types of assets, they can start using collateralization against loans, collateralization to obtain loans against their tokenized assets. So what really is fueling this is these applications that are very simple, easy to use,” he added.
For institutional adoption, Howe said execution security remains a key risk. He warned that API providers could return quotes that differ from the price ultimately achieved, potentially damaging customer confidence.
Howe added that institutions must also consider integration audits and contingency plans, arguing that secure execution and reliable pricing are critical to maintaining customer trust beyond initial custody and product development.
