F1 2027 grid: Which drivers have a seat and who is out of contract?

The 2027 Formula 1 grid is taking shape, with the top teams locking down their driver pairings for the upcoming season and the midfield order beginning to become a far clearer picture.

Here is a rundown of the confirmed 2027 F1 grid so far…

McLaren - Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri

McLaren have both reigning world champion Lando Norris and Oscar Piastri tied down to long-term contracts that, in theory at least, will keep the pair at Woking for a significant period. While Piastri will be out of contract at the end of the 2028 season, Norris agreed a new deal ahead of the 2026 Italian Grand Prix, that locks him in until 2030.

Mercedes - George Russell and Kimi Antonelli

George Russell and Kimi Antonelli each signed contract extensions for 2026 but Mercedes have not confirmed the exact length of the deals.

Crash.net understands both Russell and Antonelli have been given multi-year deals that include various clauses, the details of which are kept under wraps by Mercedes.

Toto Wolff has already confirmed Russell will stay for 2027, while one would imagine Antonelli would be handed a bumper new deal if he were to go on and lift a maiden F1 title this year.

Red Bull - Max Verstappen and Isack Hadjar

Ahead of the Dutch Grand Prix, Max Verstappen ended months of speculation surrounding his F1 future by signing a contract extension with Red Bull.

The new deal is set to keep Verstappen, whose previous contract was due to expire in 2028, at Red Bull until at least 2030.

Isack Hadjar has been retained for 2027 after a strong start to life at Red Bull.

Ferrari - Charles Leclerc and Lewis Hamilton

In June 2026, Charles Leclerc put pen to paper on a bumper new contract with Ferrari described as being a "multi-year" extension.

Prior to signing this, there had been rumours that Leclerc would be free to exit Ferrari at the end of 2026 or 2027 if the Scuderia fail to produce a championship-winning car.

Lewis Hamilton signed a multi-year contract with Ferrari when he made the blockbuster switch from Mercedes for the start of the 2025 season. The seven-time world champion, who has been in fine form this season after bouncing back from a nightmare 2025, admitted earlier this year that he had a contract in place for 2027.

Williams - Alex Albon and Carlos Sainz

Alex Albon and Carlos Sainz have both committed their futures to Williams. Albon has signed a one-year extension covering the 2027 season, while Sainz has penned a "multi-year" deal.

Racing Bulls - TBC

Liam Lawson and F1 rookie Arvid Lindblad's deals only cover the 2026 season at Red Bull’s sister team Racing Bulls. Lindblad is expected to stay put for 2027 while Lawson could also be kept. His position is less secure, especially with Red Bull junior Nikola Tsolov leading the Formula 2 championship.

Aston Martin - Fernando Alonso and Lance Stroll

Fernando Alonso is out of contract at the end of 2026 and has mulled retirement in the last few months. However, he will remain with Aston for 2027.

Lance Stroll is effectively on a rolling contract with the team owned by his billionaire father, Lawrence and will remain with Aston Martin next year

Haas - Ollie Bearman and Rafael Camara

Haas has confirmed that Rafael Camara will make his debut in 2027, replacing the outgoing Esteban Ocon. The F2 points leader has signed a "multi-year" deal with the American outfit.

Although not officially confirmed, it is basically a given that Ollie Bearman will continue at Haas for another season next year.

Audi - Nico Hulkenberg and Gabriel Bortoleto

Nico Hulkenberg and Gabriel Bortoleto both signed multi-year deals when they joined Audi and Mattia Binotto confirmed at the Azerbaijan Grand Prix they will both remain at the team in 2027.

Alpine - Pierre Gasly and Franco Colapinto

Alpine has Pierre Gasly tied down in a deal that has been extended through to the end of 2028. The team has since retained Franco Colapinto for a third season with the Enstone squad, as he penned an extension for the 2027 season.

Cadillac - Valtteri Bottas and Sergio Perez

Valtteri Bottas and Sergio Perez penned multi-year deals when they signed for F1’s newest team last summer. It is understood they are both on the same terms, with their respective contracts covering the 2027 season.
