There are places where wearing sweatpants still feels like getting away with something. Deep carpets. Wood-panelled walls. Someone taking your coat. Nike and Zalando are making themselves comfortable.
For their campaign with Highsnobiety, the two brands bring Cosy Sports Luxe into a members’ club, dressing a cast of glass characters in relaxed sportswear. Transparent figures settle into leather chairs, ride the lift and lean over a pool table like they own the place. Their bodies might be see-through, but the outfits are doing plenty of talking.
At the centre is a familiar wardrobe of Nike sweats, sporty layers and sneakers, reworked through considered proportions and unexpected combinations. Roomy joggers hold their own beyond the sofa, while jackets, bags and accessories give the comfort-first looks more shape.
Grey sweats gather above black sneakers. A navy sports layer meets green track pants and a brown bag. Elsewhere, a black zip-up hoodie, loose grey trousers and tan sneakers make a persuasive case for keeping things easy. Nothing feels overworked or squeezed into someone else’s idea of dressing up. The sportswear stays recognisably sportswear, Swooshes included.
Nike, Nike
Against the club’s red upholstery, warm lighting and wood panelling, the glass cast looks like it has arrived from somewhere less concerned with the rules. They lounge, pose and wear sunglasses indoors like regulars.
You might struggle to recreate the transparent body, but the outfit is entirely within reach.
You can shop the entire collection now on Zalando.
