Volunteers in Nerja are getting the town ready for a week of breast cancer awareness activities, with a blushing pink makeover for a kiosk at the Balcon de Europa. The volunteers have creatively decorated the kiosk with items produced in local sewing workshops, as well as charity merchandise, to help spread the message and raise funds for the cause.
Organisers have announced that the campaign will continue with more activities from October 19 to 25, inviting residents and visitors to take part in the events and show their support.
Handmade goods help raise awareness
The work of the sewing groups gives the campaign a real personal touch, with handmade products bringing together creativity, community spirit and a shared commitment to supporting people affected by cancer.
Charity merchandise also provides an opportunity for members of the public to contribute, with purchases helping support the organisation’s fantastic work. Readers can find out more about the Spanish Association Against Cancer (AECC), which provides support for patients and families and funds cancer research.
The decorated kiosk at one of Nerja’s best-known landmarks offers a visible reminder of the importance of breast cancer awareness, encouraging people passing through the town centre to stop, find out more and get involved.
A week of activities in Nerja
The programme is scheduled to run from Monday, October 19, to Sunday, October 25, where everyone is encouraged to join in with what they can. A full list of activities, locations and times has not yet been confirmed in the announcement but will be in due course.
Breast cancer awareness campaigns not only raise money but also encourage people to learn about the importance of recognising possible cancer symptoms and seeking medical advice when they notice changes.
For anyone wishing to support the initiative, the pink-decorated kiosk at the Balcon de Europa is a starting point for finding out more about the volunteers’ work and the activities planned for the week.
With handmade creations, charity merchandise and further events on the calendar, Nerja’s volunteers are hoping to bring the community together behind an important cause. Residents and visitors are encouraged to follow the organisers’ social media updates for further details of the October 19–25 programme and how to participate.
