PAJU — The city of Paju in Gyeonggi Province will spend 14.5 billion won ($10.5 million) to build a large cultural park on a 28,000-square-meter site above Unjeong Jungang Station on the GTX-A express commuter rail line.
Construction is scheduled to begin in November this year and finish in the first half of 2029.
The park will center on a signature structure called Runway 350, along with the Unjeong Cloud Plaza, the Unjeong Well Plaza and a shaded sculpture plaza.
It will also house exhibition, performance and rest spaces including a gallery hall, a concert hall and an active hall.
At night, the park will offer distinctive lighting, a walking path paved with luminescent stone and lighting projected onto trees.
Paju said it aims to develop the park into a landmark that combines culture, the arts, leisure and tourism.
