Pakistan’s Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) has claimed that the alleged mastermind behind an attack on the Police Lines in Kohat, in the country’s Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province, was killed during an operation in the Lakki Marwat district of the same province.
Dawn reported on Friday night, October 16, that the man was identified as Zahid Gul and was a member of the Hafiz Gul Bahadur group.
According to the report, the CTD claimed that Zahid Gul was the main planner of a car bombing targeting a police facility in Kohat.
About a month ago, a bomb-laden vehicle struck an area near a mosque inside the Police Lines compound in Kohat, killing 17 police officers and six civilians.
At the time, however, Pakistani security agencies claimed that the suicide bomber responsible for the attack was an Afghan national from Helmand province.
