Assembly constituencies of Chennai district have registered poor turnout at the special camps for electors who intend to submit forms for inclusion of names on the electoral rolls.
According to Chennai District Election Office, 3,364 forms were issued during the special drive conducted on October 10 and October 11 while 2,483 forms were received from the voters.
Thiru Vi Ka Nagar (SC) registered the highest number of forms received with 379 residents submitting forms at the special camps while 493 forms were issued during the two days of the special drive. A total of 404 Form 6 were issued and 289 were received. As many as 90 voters submitted applications in Form 8 for shifting of residence and correction of entries in the constituency.
Anna Nagar registered the lowest number of forms submitted with officials receiving just 48 applications in Form 6 from residents for inclusion of names.
Voters in Virugambakkam have submitted 294 applications in Form 6 for inclusion of names, Dr. Radhakrishnan Nagar 92, Perambur 110, Kolathur 215, Villivakkam 57, Egmore 80, Royapuram 86, Harbour 76, Chepauk Thiruvallikeni 100, Thousand Lights 155, Anna Nagar 48, Virugambakkam 200, Saidapet 70, Thiyagarayanagar 100, Mylapore 120 and Velachery 56.
A large number of names were reportedly deleted from the rolls during the special intensive revision ahead of the Assembly elections and many electors who visited polling booths could not vote during the recent Assembly elections because their names were removed from the rolls. However, fewer voters were found at the special camps for inclusion of names on the rolls in the city on Sunday.
