Philadelphia Eagles head coach Nick Sirianni is among three NFL head coaches facing $250,000 fines for their conduct toward game officials, according to a report from Sports Illustrated’s Albert Breer. However, the penalties are currently “in abeyance,” or on hold, and could be withdrawn if the coaches demonstrate good behavior, per the report.
New England Patriots coach Mike Vrabel and New York Jets coach Aaron Glenn are the other two coaches facing the same financial penalty. The league has not disclosed when the fines were issued or whether they stemmed from individual incidents or a broader pattern of behavior toward officials.
When asked about the matter during his Thursday news conference, Sirianni said:

“I won’t get into my conversations with the league. I try to keep everything player-related as far as our conversations with players in-house. Same with conversations with the league. Same with conversations with the referees association. I just keep that at that.”
The development comes during a difficult stretch for Philadelphia, with Sirianni experiencing the first four-game losing streak of his six-year tenure as the team’s head coach.
The reported penalties follow the NFL’s ongoing efforts to address conduct involving coaches and game officials. During Wednesday’s owners’ meetings, NFL executive vice president of football operations Troy Vincent discussed sportsmanship, stressing the need to uphold standards in that area.
The league has also disciplined two officials for their interactions with players this season.
Line judge Jeff Seeman received a two-game suspension following an incident involving Arizona Cardinals tight end Trey McBride during a game against the New York Giants. Television cameras captured the interaction, and Seeman was fined over his conduct.
Referee Adrian Hill received a one-game suspension after an encounter with Minnesota Vikings linebacker Eric Wilson during the game versus the Miami Dolphins. Wilson was knocked into Hill after a play had ended, then offered to help the referee up. Hill subsequently got to his feet and shouted at Wilson to move away.
Sirianni has developed a reputation for animated exchanges with referees during his time with the Eagles, and he has also had confrontations with opposing players and fans.
