Jordan Spieth did not wait until the end of his golf career to build something away from the PGA Tour.He launched the Jordan Spieth Family Foundation early in his professional career.
A decade later, the foundation had distributed more than $10 million in grants and worked with 137 unique community partners across four causes: individuals with special needs, junior golf, military families and veterans, and pediatric cancer.
Why did Jordan Spieth start his family foundation so early in his PGA Tour career?
Spieth's approach to philanthropy grew out of experiences that predated his biggest wins on the PGA Tour. His younger sister, who has special needs, helped shape one of the foundation's four pillars.
Spieth also told D Magazine's Ben Swanger in 2025 that his Jesuit education reinforced the importance of service."Their motto is Men for Others, and community service is built into everything," Spieth said. "That instilled in me the importance of giving your time, not just money. Once I got on the PGA Tour, charity was everywhere; it just became natural."
That became the framework for a foundation built around causes with a direct connection to Spieth and his family.
The foundation says it looks for organizations that remove barriers for families. Its special-needs work focuses on developmental opportunities and inclusion. Its junior golf grants prioritize education, mentorship and access. Military-focused partnerships support service members and their families, while its pediatric cancer funding covers patient care, family support, research and clinical trials.Spieth and his wife, Annie Spieth, have also taken part directly in that work.In August 2024, the couple visited St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis, where the Jordan Spieth Family Foundation presented a $500,000 grant. St. Jude said the money was designated for research and treatment involving acute myeloid leukemia, or AML."When we had the opportunity to start the Jordan Spieth Family Foundation, we just wanted to find a way to help as many families as possible," Spieth said during the visit.Annie added that pediatric cancer had affected people close to their family and described the investment in AML research as personal.
How did Jordan Spieth's foundation grow to more than $10 million and 137 community partners?
By the foundation's 10-year mark, the scale had changed considerably. The Jordan Spieth Family Foundation now lists more than $10 million in grants and 137 unique community partners since its inception. In 2025, D Magazine reported that the organization had reached the $10 million mark while moving toward larger, longer-term partnerships. One of those steps was its first endowment, created to support pediatric cancer research at Children's Health in Dallas."I've never been one to focus on the dollar amounts we've given, but milestones like this deserve to be celebrated; especially because so much of it comes from the amazing people who support our foundation," Spieth told D Magazine. "That was our first endowment, and hopefully the first of many. The idea is to build long-term partnerships with organizations we really believe in."Junior golf has remained another major part of the foundation's work. The second Crush It! Cup was scheduled for Nov. 17, 2025, at Gleneagles Golf & Country Club in Plano, Texas. The event brought junior golfers together to raise money for the foundation through a golf marathon.
According to D Magazine, the inaugural 2024 event featured 36 participants and raised more than $250,000 with support from Invited. Ahead of the second edition, 40 junior golfers representing 57 clubs across 18 states had collectively played more than 15,000 holes and raised $118,000 during the summer. For Spieth, the event also gave young golfers an introduction to philanthropy."If more kids get involved and keep pushing each other to play more holes, while also learning about philanthropy and integrity, I think we'll surpass the $250,000 milestone this year," he said at the time. The numbers now attached to Spieth's foundation are substantial. The more revealing part is how early the work began. He started it while his PGA Tour career was still taking shape. Ten years later, the foundation had grown from a personal set of causes into a network spanning 137 community partners and more than $10 million in giving.
