Super Bowl winning wide receiver JuJu Smith-Schuster is searching for a new home after he was released by the New York Giants ahead of the 2026 season.
This week, multiple NFL teams worked out Smith-Schuster or invited him to visit. Many teams are in receiver trouble right now with injuries, so adding a veteran player like Smith-Schuster would help boost their offense. For instance, the receiver worked out with the Minnesota Vikings and Los Angeles Chargers this week.
But according to a report from OnSI's Noah Strackbein on Thursday, Smith-Schuster could be returning to a familiar home. The receiver is set to visit the Pittsburgh Steelers on Friday, where he began his career from 2017-21.
Smith-Schuster would be playing for a whole new team if the two sides decide to work together. Mike McCarthy is now the head coach instead of Mike Tomlin, who led the receiver before. Aaron Rodgers is the quarterback now, while Smith-Schuster played for Ben Roethlisberger. A totally different environment, but the Steeler way is still the same.

The Steelers recently found themselves in wide receiver trouble after they had to place Michael Pittman Jr. on the injured reserve list with a foot injury. Then, Roman Wilson left last Sunday's game versus the Indianapolis Colts early with a finger injury that will keep him out weeks now.
Additionally, Ben Skowronek won't play in Week 6 against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers because of a calf injury. If you're keeping score, that means Pittsburgh went down three receivers in the past week.
In case the Steelers don't sign Smith-Schuster or another receiver soon, then the team will rely on rookie Germie Bernard as a secondary receiver to DK Metcalf. With Pittman out this past weekend against the Colts, Bernard stood up and caught six passes for 80 yards. He'll be a solid option for the Steelers moving forward.
